Hope Town was founded in 1785, in part, by a widow from South Carolina named Wyannie Malone, and settled by British Loyalists who were seeking safe refuge after the American Revolution. I believe that Hope Town is one of the most special places on Earth. The natural beauty of the island speaks for itself – beautiful white sand beaches surrounded by gin-clear waters. It is clearly food for the soul. However, it’s the energy of the people that make this little resort village addictive. A melting pot of generational Bahamians, expat residents and vacation home owners all contribute to an unprecedented community spirit. Visitors and residents love the village for its charm, convenience, and character. Where else in the world can you let your child bike to school, walk to the shop, or go play in the streets with friends? Games like tag, hide and seek and kick the can are all still alive and well! Hope Town is that special community that still has an old-fashioned sense of community. A great place for a vacation home or for permanent residency. And don’t forget, The Bahamas has no income tax, capital gains tax or inheritance tax.
